Call
to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon. by Reid Allen,
President.
Approval of Minutes:
The
minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected (Ruthee
Goldkorn)..
Treasurers Report:
Reid Allen presented the Treasurer's Report for
the absent Craig Wallace, Treasurer. There was a discussion on
the $20,000 which still hasn't been paid by Kiwanis International.
The required contract was sent in February. Usually there is a
60-day lag by KI. The Treasurer's Report was M/S/P to approve
as presented.
Announcements:
a.Gala
Dinner:
There was a discussion on this event. The following highlights
were mentioned:
1. Marcus Allen, the 1981 Football Heisman Trophy winner, secured
as Keynote Speaker.
2. Date is April 25 or 26, 2009.
3. Outback will charge $12.50 per meal.
b.
Future Location of Meetings: There is new
management at Denny's - Temple City and they will not allow us
to use the back room exclusively. Alternate Site for April 13
Meeting: Shaker's on Central in Glendale. They charge $1.95 pp
to use Banquet Room plus $100 minimum. The room holds about 30.
It was M/S/P to try Shaker's.

Ad Hoc @ 12:00 noon.

Gala "Seed Money": Lynn Seeden
is doing the legwork on getting the Gold Medallion fundraiser
implemented. Reid discussed the Restricted Endowment funding at
the Kiwanis International Foundation. Three thousand medallions
will be forged and sold for $1,000 each. The idea is similar to
the Hixson but the money will go into the Rose Float Endowment
to fund the float in perpetuity. Initially 250 will be forged
to start the campaign. The medallion is currently in the design
stage.

Gold Medallion: Marsha Jackson will have
a rider prize at the Burbank Clubs Gala Live Auction on
July 19, 2008.

Other Fundraisers:
A flyer was handed out regarding a Mike Herman fundraiser for
information only.
g.
Delegates to Orlando Convention:
M/S/P to appoint Reid and Cathy Allen as the club's delegates
to the Orlando Convention.
h.
Membership:
M/S/P to approve Ruthee Goldkorn as a member of the club. Reid
suggested that we need to find new blood for the Rose Float Committee.
i.
Rose Float Breakfasts in North & South Mid
Year Conference:
There were 80 Kiwanians in attendance in the South and 45 in the
North. It was a good turnout..
New Business:
Bob Erikson handed out a brochure for the Yucaipa Valley Kiwanis
Golf Tournament.
