Call
to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 12:45 p.m. by Reid Allen, President.
Approval of Minutes:
The
minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected (3-c:
Interclub Luncheon).
Treasurers Report:
Craig Wallace, Treasurer, presented the Income/Expenditure
Report for the Rose Float Club and Rose Float Club Foundation.
It was M/S/P to approve as presented.
Other
Fiscal Actions:
a. It was M/S/P to have the Rose Float Club
send $2000.00 to the Rose Float Committee for distribution to
Phoenix Decorating to help cover a portion of the cost of the
2008 Kiwanis International Rose Float.
Announcements:
a.
Dave Wallach discussed the proposed KI/Rose Float Contract with
the Board:
- The
KI Foundation Restricted Endowment for the Rose Float is being
established for the future purpose of funding the float.
- KI
is reducing its involvement in the funding. The proposed
funding from the KI General Budget is $20,000 in 2008; $15,000
in 2009 & $10,000 in 2010
- KI
will participate in the Public Relations of the Rose Float.
- KI
will not fund any further requests after 2010.
- The
$20,000 for the 2008 float will be distributed after this contract
is signed.
b.
Gala Affair: There was a discussion on
the cancellation of the 2008 Gala Affair. It was cancelled for
the lack of upfront seed money to promote the Affair. It is estimated
that $7,000 - $10,000 is needed.
c.
2009 Gala Affair: A new start for next year
is proposed for the Gala Affair. It is proposed to find a sponsor
for the seed money.
d.
KI/Rose Float Partnership Discussion: A
discussion then ensued regarding KIs proposed Partnership
with the Rose Float Committee. There was a brief discussion of
a proposal by Lynn Seedon to have a $1,000 Rose Float Medallion
similar to the Hixson or Dunlap that would be produced by the
KI Foundation. More on this proposal as it is developed.
E.
Rose Float Riders: Marsha Jackson will
have a rider prize at the Burbank Clubs Gala Live Auction
on July 19, 2008.
